This is a project of Mayan weavings and crafts coordinated by
LA CASA DEL PAN PAPALOTL, organic vegetarian restaurant and whole grain bakery with a mission to nourish the spirit, heal the body and care for the earth.

The Mayan women of the highlands of Chiapas have been weaving distintive fabrics for their particular regions which symbolize cosmic and natural elements of their world. This ancient tradition merits our interest and active support. Thus, this project, "Weaving the Future," was born.

La Casa del Pan makes these weavings available to you, while aiding the women with the preservation of their tradition.

Many of the textiles are made with home-spun, vegetable-dyed wool, according to the tradition. Others employ commercially-made, colorfast cotton threads.
