Since the recording of the King Zugoīs Clan CD in the late eighties Roots-N-Wisdom has gone through a remarkable musical journey. Africa was the beginning of that journey, traversing North America, to Mexico and Central America, infusing and nurturing the music that is associated with Roots-N-Wisdom with many of the cultures along the way.
The music and the musicians are the roots. The music has attracted different musicians since the beginning of the group in 1986. Along with Wisdom Ogbor whose musical roots are in Nigeria, West Africa, and many dedicated musicians from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, U.S.A., Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Holland and Germany, the music of Roots-N-Wisdom has sprung many roots. |
The King Zugoīs Clan CD was recorded in Ghana and Nigeria from 1989 - 1991 to follow a novel of the same title which was written by Wisdom Ogbor who is the driving and organizing force behind Roots-N-Wisdom. Both book and CD are encounters of Africa with the rest of the world. While there are still a few CDīs left, the book is very hard to come by these days. A new CD is expected from Roots-N-Wisdom based on experiences and collaborations from travelling the-much-written-about "Ruta Maya." No dates have been announced for a release.
