The initial stage of our CHIAPAS BICYCLE PROJECT has brought 100 used bicycles into Mexico, and about 80 to the state of Chiapas. These bicycles were refurbished and given away free of charge to the people who worked on them in different parts of the country to help put people to work, learning  bicycle repairing skills.

This project is now raising funds to operate a community bicycle shop in San Cristobal de las Casas, to be active in promoting the slogan of Bikes Not Bombs in Mexico, which is "BICICLETAS PARA TODAS LAS RUTAS MAYAS". A successful bicycle shop in Chiapas, while helping to maintain the bicycles that have already been brought  here, will help to link Bikes Not Bombs project for Central America to Honduras, and Nicaragua where the original 80īs projects are still operational in Managua and Leon.

Your support for this project will help to provide affordable bicycle transportation, skills, information and a means of using the bicycle to earn a decent living for many poor people throughout the so-called Ruta Maya.
