La Casa del Pan is a natural vegetarian restaurant and whole-grain-bakery in Mexico, committed to nourishing the spirit, healing the body, and caring for the earth, while serving exquisite Mexican regional and international cuisine. This means favoring organic producers, caring for the workers, and preserving traditional local crafts. All meals are prepared from fresh ingredients, preferably organic. To feed its local clientele and visitors from all over the world, La Casa del Pan has its own vegetable garden and greenhouse, and trades with regional organic producers. La Casa del Pan works closely with Dana Association, a leader in organic agriculture in Mexico, in this effort.
La Casa del Pan provides its workers with health, retirement, and profit-sharing benefits. The Casa del Pan Shop promotes high-quality local Mexican crafts, with a Fair Trade philosophy. La Casa del Pan donates a portion of its profits to community projects, for example, La Pimienta Independent Mayan School, Bikes Not Bombs, and Melel Xojobal, ("true radiance"), the center for street children in San Cristobal.
There are really three Casas del Pan in the country of Mexico. The original is a bakery-cafe in Mexico City, the second is a vegetarian restaurant, bakery and shop in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas and the third is a bakery-cafe and shop, in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
